I’m sure everyone is familiar with the story of The Emperor’s New Clothes!

Just in case you’re not, in a nut shell the emperor gets fooled into purchasing the newest and greatest fashion that he is too proud to admit that he cannot see. He is being swindled, paying a high price for invisible, non-existent clothing.

Last week the Oracle worked with an advanced group of students and spoke to them about new clothing. They used the metaphor of going shopping and trying on new outfits that matched the new dream they were working to attract into their lives. Within the metaphor, they said that people always ask Spirit for their new dream, for example a new job, or anything else they desire. So, their Source Energy responds, bringing them experiences in which they get to try on new clothes. The new clothing is meant for them to wear to life’s interviews for the new dream job so that they match and can be the dream, (matching the energy of what they desire) and get the new dream job they want!

The Oracle then said that what then happens is that people have experiences in life, that are like shopping for new clothes, but they don’t allow themselves to find a new suit! Out of habit, people like their old ways and old clothes and become unwilling to change who they are or how they see their selves so that they can become comfortable in new clothing.

I remember feeling like this as a teenager and in college. Every day I got to wear what I chose and what I liked and I didn’t look forward to having a regular job where I would have to wear “stuffy” clothing that was unexpressive and straight-laced! In other words, a part of me didn’t want to grow up and join “the working world”. However, the transition went unnoticed for me. I started at a couple of temp jobs when I first graduated and as I became comfortable in the offices I worked in I started to want new, more professional looking outfits.

The Oracle’s point was that we can wait and allow ourselves to change just a little at a time, but then it takes our dreams much longer to come forward into our lives. Or we can recognize that we are wanting change, a change that would bring about our dreams, and we can actively seek the new clothing that will suit our new dreams.

The Emperor’s pride led him to seek out invisible clothes so that in the end he paraded himself down his streets, making a complete fool of himself,f since he was only wearing underwear!

I fear we often do something similar! Whether our egos have us parade around in no clothes or whether we try to interview for a new job in our old, comfortable “grunge” clothing we are often not behaving as smart as we think we are. If we were aware enough of ourselves then we would recognize what clothing is comfortable for us but also an appropriate match to the life we are trying to create. We would then be smart enough to wear a suit into life’s interviews for the new positions, or dreams, that we seek.

In other worlds, we would allow ourselves to change for the better, so that who we are, like a new outfit, would change in positive and preferable ways. This would allow us to become the new us whose dream has come true!
