What if Ohana meant that you are connected with others who are having the same experience as you, so that they understand and are therefore listening and extending love to you when you need it?
Ohana is the Hawaiian word for family, and they use to refer to anyone who is Hawaiian. This is because there is an inherint meaning that we are all connected, so everyone must be a related to us as a cousin!~
Kris and I love this concept and I’ve even been told that Ohana also means “I recognize the spirit that I am in you” – connection.
I love this! Ultimately, we are all connected, so the more we allow ourselves to connect with others the more we end up feeling like we are a part of a community, like we are loved and cared for.

Kalyn leading a journey
When it comes down to it, people are all that really matter. I remember my teachers telling me this some time ago and I thought… people? Whatever, but I want my things, please! I remember knowing that this must be true and that I just wasn’t there yet!
Whether wisdom comes through age or experiences, at some point we always tend to come back to seeing that life just isn’t as glorious without people who we love in it. All the things we desire just aren’t as much fun without people to enjoy them with. Even magical vacations just don’t have the luster of the beautiful locations we go to when there isn’t someone to share this with.
It is important to be ourselves, to know Who we are and to have a strong foundation in ourselves: I mention this because this is very important. We must first love ourselves if we are going to love and be loved by others. Once we have self love though, then we find that our Ohana, whether that includes a romantic relationship, our family, our spiritual family or our friends, is one of the most important and meaningful gifts in life.
Celebrate the love and the people in your life!
