They say “When in Rome…” and now I see why.
The point to traveling is that life is different in a different place, so one goes to have a new and different experience. In my Rome, here in San Miguel de Allende (SMA), it is easy to slow down and get in sink with the flow, thus doing as is done here.
So, you are probably thinking that I mean that it is easy to enjoy the beautiful European-styled architecture, the afternoon siestas or that I enjoy sitting in a café looking on the church and garden before it. True, those are marvelous, but that’s not quite it.
Life is different here because the energy is different. Because the energy is different, anyone’s preferences, and their moods are different here too. In the Golden Flow of life, you find yourself making some choices that are not habitual for you, but that are typical here. For example, at home we rarely drink club soda. Nevertheless, there is something about being in Mexico that calls for club soda, with lime. Of course, this “something” may simply be our bodies asking for an alkaline drink to counter the acidity of the salsas, salsas and more spice guac-salsa. Mmmm.
When we are in the Mayan Caribbean us women tend to wear sarongs. They are beautiful, flowing and comfortable. In the hot weather they are particularly cool, which is also nice. Nevertheless, when we all get home, even in the dry heat of Santa Fe’s summer, no sarongs.
Of course, some things are easier to become accustomed to than others. The dishwashing bright-yellow stuff reads “great in cold water” and, consequently there is no hot water in the kitchen sink. Now most kitchens I have seen have hot water, do others? I don’t know why they’d make dishwashing detergent specifically for cold water unless this was customary. So, I hesitated for a moment before the dirty dishes, wondered what the FDA would have to say about this, shrugged and did my dishes. Ok, Law of Attraction, don’t fail me now. I was healthy at home, keep me healthy in Rome!
In Rome you simply become a different version of yourself. Perhaps it is a more refined version, perhaps it is a less refined version. It doesn’t really matter. The key is that in a different energy your assemblage point shifts so that your perception shifts. The shift in your perception causes your awareness to increase. What you know and what you have experienced increase and you become “a man of the world”. You become larger all around.
In Rome, which is does not quite meet FDA standards, you find that who you thought you were changes. You find that the things that you thought had to be a certain way, are completely backwards now and that it’s ok because you are in Rome. Things will be different when you return home.
When I return I will be a little more flexible and more open. Even though I probably lean towards the carbonated water or my Roman purse, I will be more open to new, unknown things as life brings new experiences my way.
